Wise
This integration is available in Frihet. Configure it in Settings → Integrations → Wise.
Connect your Wise account (formerly TransferWise) to Frihet to automatically import your transfers and transactions as expenses. If you work with international clients or vendors in different currencies, this integration saves you manual entry for each movement and keeps your expenses updated with the real exchange rates applied by Wise.
What is it for?
- Import transactions as expenses — Each transfer and payment made from Wise is imported as an expense in Frihet with all details: description, amount, date, and currency.
- Multi-currency management — Transactions in USD, GBP, EUR, or other currencies are recorded with their original currency and the applied exchange rate.
- Elimination of manual entry — You don't need to copy data from Wise to Frihet: import everything at once.
- Complete expense visibility — Consolidate your Wise bank expenses with the rest of your expenses in Frihet to get a complete financial picture.
Requirements
- Active account on Wise
- Frihet Pro or Business plan
- Wise API Token (generated from your account settings)
How to connect
Step 1: Get your API Token in Wise
- Log in to wise.com
- Go to your profile and select Settings.
- Look for the API tokens section.
- Click on Add new token.
- Give it a descriptive name, for example "Frihet ERP".
- Select Read only permissions — this is sufficient to import transactions.
- Complete the security verification (Wise may request confirmation via SMS or email).
- Copy the generated token. It is only shown once.
Step 2: Configure in Frihet
- In Frihet, go to Settings → Integrations.
- Find Wise and click on the card.
- Paste your API Token into the corresponding field.
- Click on Test connection to verify that the credentials are correct.
- If the connection is successful, you will see a confirmation with your account data.
- Click on Save.
How it works
Frihet connects to the Wise API using your API Token with Bearer authentication. When you initiate an import, Frihet queries the transactions from your Wise accounts and registers them as expenses in your Frihet account.
The import is on-demand: you decide when to import. Already imported transactions are identified by their Wise ID and are not duplicated in subsequent imports.
Data mapping
| Data in Wise | Field in Frihet |
|---|---|
| Transfer description | Expense description |
| Amount | Expense amount |

| Reference | Expense notes |
Use cases
Freelancer with international clients
You charge in USD and GBP but your accounting is in EUR. Each time you receive a payment and make a conversion in Wise, the commission and exchange rate are automatically recorded as an expense in Frihet. You have full visibility of the real cost of your international operations.
Startup with vendors in multiple countries
You pay software, hosting, and service vendors in different currencies via Wise. Instead of manually recording each payment, you import all transactions into Frihet at once and categorize them.
Digital nomad
You travel and pay with your Wise card in different currencies. You import all expenses into Frihet to have real control over your operating costs, regardless of the currency you paid in.
Troubleshooting
Connection error
- Verify that the API Token is correct and has not expired.
- Check that the token has read-only permissions.
- If you regenerated the token in Wise, update it in Frihet — the old one will stop working.
Transactions are not imported
- Confirm that you have transactions in the selected date range.
- Ensure that the Wise account is active and verified.
- Only completed transactions are imported, not pending ones.
Duplicate transactions
- This should not occur: Frihet deduplicates by Wise transaction ID.
- If it occurs, disconnect and reconnect the integration.
- Expenses already recorded in Frihet are not affected.
