Webhook connection

Slack connects by pasting the URL of an incoming webhook from your workspace. Frihet stores it encrypted and checks that Slack accepts it.

What it does in Frihet​

  • Stores your incoming webhook — You paste the Slack webhook URL and Frihet stores it encrypted.
  • Checks the connection — When you click Test connection, Frihet sends a test message to the channel tied to that webhook and tells you whether Slack accepted it.
  • Lets you disconnect — In the Settings tab, under Danger zone, click Disconnect Slack.

What Frihet does not do​

  • Notifications in Slack for paid invoices, overdue invoices or collection reminders.
  • Daily summaries, invoicing milestones or mentions.
  • /frihet commands inside Slack.
  • Connection through OAuth or installing a Frihet app in your workspace.
  • Choosing a channel, direct message or mentions from Frihet: the channel is set by the webhook you create in Slack.

Requirements​

  • A Slack workspace where you can create an incoming webhook (depending on your workspace settings, this may require admin permissions).
  • Each connected integration counts toward your plan limit: 2 on Free, 5 on Pro, unlimited on Premium.

Connect Slack​

Step 1: Create an incoming webhook in Slack​

  1. Go to api.slack.com/messaging/webhooks and follow Slack's guide to create an app with Incoming Webhooks turned on.
  2. Add a webhook to the channel where you want the test message.
  3. Copy the URL, which looks like https://hooks.slack.com/services/....

Step 2: Save it in Frihet​

  1. Go to Integrations and open Slack.
  2. In the Connection tab, paste the URL into Webhook URL.
  3. Click Test connection. A test message should appear in the Slack channel.
  4. Click Save connection. When you save, Frihet sends another test message to the channel.

Use cases​

Keep a verified webhook​

If you run flows that post to Slack, you can keep the checked webhook stored in Frihet next to your other integrations.

Slack alerts from your flows​

Frihet does not post to Slack on its own. If you want alerts, Frihet webhooks (Premium plan) can feed an n8n, Make or Zapier flow that posts to Slack.

Security​

  • The webhook URL is stored encrypted.
  • Anyone with the URL can post to that channel: treat it like a password.
  • If the URL leaks, revoke it in Slack and save the new one in Frihet.

Troubleshooting​

"Connection error. Please verify your webhook URL."​

  • Check that you copied the full URL, with no spaces.
  • Check that the webhook is still active in your Slack app.
  • Generate a new webhook and test again.

The test message does not appear​

  • Check the channel tied to the webhook in Slack.
  • If the test message arrives but you see nothing else, that is expected: Frihet does not send other messages to Slack, apart from the test message when you save the connection.
