Frihet Documentation

Frihet is a modern ERP built to manage invoicing, expenses, clients, accounting, and taxes from the keyboard, the web app, or through AI agents and the REST API.

1. Start invoicing

Configure your tax profile, test your first draft invoice with synthetic data, and understand the boundary between draft, issuing, and sending.

2. Bring my data

Import clients, products, invoices, and expenses from CSV, Excel, or your previous accounting tool with column validation before saving.

3. Connect API or AI agent

Run your first GET /v1/clients read request, interpret 200/401/403/429 responses, or connect Claude, Cursor, or Hermes via MCP.

Choose your starting journey​

1. Start invoicing​

If you are about to create your first invoices or want to verify how Frihet calculates taxes before issuing real fiscal documents:

  1. Create an account — set up your workspace and sign in to the app.
  2. Configure your business — enter your Tax ID (NIF/CIF) and legal name under Settings → Tax Profile, and set your tax zone (VAT / IVA in Mainland Spain & Balearic Islands, IGIC in the Canary Islands, or IPSI in Ceuta & Melilla), IRPF withholding, and numbering series under Settings → Billing.
  3. Your first invoice — end-to-end walkthrough with a synthetic draft example (without chaining in VeriFactu or sending real emails), pre-issue review checkpoint, expected result, and recovery steps.
  4. Keyboard shortcuts — press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux) to open the command palette and use two-key sequences such as C then F (create invoice) or G then F (go to invoices).

If you want to query or automate your ERP from code, no-code workflows, or an AI assistant:

  • Developer quickstart — create your key (fri_...) under Integrations → API Keys, run your first read request to GET https://api.frihet.io/v1/clients?limit=5, and distinguish a 200 OK response with records, a new account with an empty list ("data": []), and 401, 403, or 429 error responses.
  • Connect your AI agent and MCP server — connect Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, ChatGPT, or Hermes using @frihet/mcp-server (1.17.0, 157 canonical operations).
  • REST API reference and Interactive OpenAPI explorer — full request/response schemas, filters, cursor pagination, and idempotency.

Design principles​

Frihet is built around three ideas:

  1. Keyboard speed — Navigate and run actions with the command palette (Cmd+K / Ctrl+K) and two-key shortcuts without taking your hands off the keyboard.
  2. Verifiable intelligence — The AI assistant helps you prepare drafts and query data, always requiring your confirmation before saving changes.
  3. Open, portable data — Your documents and records are accessible in standard formats (CSV, PDF, Facturae XML, REST API JSON, and MCP).
