Dropbox Sign (HelloSign)

This integration is available in Frihet. Configure it in Settings → Integrations → Dropbox Sign.

Connect your Dropbox Sign (formerly HelloSign) account to Frihet to manage your electronic signatures from your ERP. Dropbox Sign offers a simple interface for sending documents for signature, and with this integration, you can check the status of all your signature requests directly from Frihet.

  • Active account on Dropbox Sign (formerly HelloSign)
  • Frihet Pro or Business Plan
  • Dropbox Sign API Key

How to connect​

Step 1: Get your API Key in Dropbox Sign​

  1. Log in to app.hellosign.com or sign.dropbox.com
  2. Go to Settings (Configuration)
  3. Navigate to Integrations or API
  4. Find your API Key in the developer section
  5. If you don't have one, generate a new API key
  6. Copy the API Key
Authentication

Dropbox Sign uses Basic Auth for its API. Frihet sends your API Key as the username (with an empty password). You don't need to configure anything additional — Frihet manages this automatically.

Step 2: Configure in Frihet​

  1. In Frihet, go to Settings → Integrations
  2. Find Dropbox Sign (or HelloSign) and click on the card
  3. Paste your API Key in the corresponding field
  4. Click on Test connection to verify
  5. If the connection is successful, click on Save

How it works​

Frihet connects to the Dropbox Sign API using your API Key with Basic authentication (the API Key is sent as the username, without a password). When you query your signature requests, Frihet gets the updated list from Dropbox Sign with the status of each one.

Similar to PandaDoc, this integration does not import data into Frihet (it does not create clients or expenses). It is a signature tracking tool that complements your invoicing and and documentation workflow.

Use cases​

Agency with service contracts​

You send contracts to your clients via Dropbox Sign. From Frihet, you can see at a glance which contracts are signed and which are still pending, and create invoices for projects with signed contracts.

Freelancer with non-disclosure agreements​

Before starting a project, you send an NDA to your client via Dropbox Sign. From Frihet, you check if it has been signed, and once it is, you proceed to create the project's first invoice.

You manage multiple documents that require signatures (contracts, addendums, agreements). In Frihet, you have a centralized dashboard where you can check the status of each request without opening another application.

Troubleshooting​

Connection error​

  • Verify that the API Key is correct
  • Check that your Dropbox Sign plan includes API access (free plans may have limitations)
  • If you generated a new API Key, the previous one is invalidated — update it in Frihet

Signature requests not displayed​

  • Make sure you have signature requests created in Dropbox Sign
  • Deleted or archived requests may not appear
  • Verify that the API Key belongs to the correct account

Outdated status​

  • Frihet queries the status in real time from the Dropbox Sign API
  • If the status does not update, check the connection (there may be a temporary issue with the Dropbox Sign API)
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration if the issue persists
