Billable expenses

Record expenses charged to the client (travel, materials, subcontractors), mark them as billable and add them to the next invoice without re-entering data.

Overview

When you incur expenses on behalf of a client (disbursements, travel, accommodation, materials), you can mark them as billable when you record them. When you create an invoice for that client, Frihet shows a notice with the pending billable expenses so you can add them to the invoice with their amount and description.

Quick start

  1. When recording an expense, turn on Billable to client and choose the client. On a saved expense you can use Mark as billable or Remove billable.
  2. When you create an invoice for that client, the notice "This client has N billable expenses" appears.
  3. Click Add all, or select the ones you want and click Add selected.

In Expenses you can filter by Billable to see the pending ones.

Reference

  • API: POST /v1/expenses/{expenseId}/billable marks the expense as billable (body with clientId and optional markup). DELETE /v1/expenses/{expenseId}/billable removes it. See the API reference.
