Payment link
Integrated Stripe Connect: the client clicks, pays by card, and the invoice is automatically marked as collected.
Overview
Payment links let your clients pay invoices online without phone calls or manual transfers. Frihet generates a unique link per invoice with a hosted Stripe checkout that accepts cards. The invoice status is updated when the payment is received. To generate it you need to have connected your Stripe account, and the Payment link button only appears on sent invoices that have not yet fallen due, on the Pro plan or higher.
Quick start
- Connect your Stripe account in Integrations (Stripe Connect card).
- Open any invoice and click Payment link.
- Copy the link with Share link or send it with the invoice.
- The client pays with Stripe and Frihet marks the invoice as paid.
When the link appears and quick troubleshooting
For the Payment link button to appear in an invoice's actions menu, all four conditions below must be met at the same time:
| Condition | Requirement in Frihet | What happens if not met |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Subscription plan | Pro plan or higher (Pro, Premium, or Enterprise). | On the Free plan the Payment link action is not shown; you can still collect via bank transfer or the SEPA QR code on the PDF. |
| 2. Connected gateway | Stripe Connect account connected and active in Integrations. | The button does not appear until onboarding is completed in Stripe Connect. |
| 3. Invoice status | Invoice in Sent status (issued and unpaid). | Not shown on Draft invoices (issue the invoice first) or once the invoice is marked as Paid or cancelled. |
| 4. Due date window | The Due Date has not yet passed. | Once an invoice becomes Overdue, the direct Payment link button is no longer shown in the row actions menu; automatic reminders continue to include the link to the invoice portal. |
For the complete walkthrough from issuing your first invoice (synthetic case Estudio Norte S.L., CIF B12345674, facturacion@example.com) to collecting payment and reconciling your bank statement, see Collections and Payments. If you still experience a gateway issue after checking all four conditions, see Support & Quick Troubleshooting.
SEPA (EPC) payment QR
In addition to the Stripe link, Frihet includes a SEPA QR code compliant with the EPC069-12 v2.0 standard on the PDF of EUR invoices. It is a bank transfer QR: the client scans it with their bank's app and the transfer details (IBAN, beneficiary, amount and reference) are filled in automatically.
- It appears when you have an IBAN in your tax details, the invoice is in EUR and it is not yet paid.
- Does not require Stripe: works with any banking app compatible with EPC QR.
- Generated together with the invoice PDF, with no additional steps.
The Stripe link charges by card; the EPC QR starts a bank transfer from the client's app. Both can coexist on the same invoice.
Reference
- Automatic reminders include the link to the invoice portal, where the client can pay if your plan is Pro or higher and you have Stripe connected (see Payment reminders).
- The Stripe connection is managed in Integrations.
