Manual journal entries
Record manual accounting adjustments with accounts from your chart of accounts and post them to the general ledger once they balance.
Overview
Frihet generates entries automatically for invoices, payments and expenses. For specific adjustments (accruals, corrections, reclassifications) you create journal entries from Finance → Accounting, Journal Entries tab. Each entry needs at least two lines with an account and total Debit equal to total Credit; while it does not balance, Frihet shows the difference and does not let you post it.
An entry has two states: Draft, which you can edit, and Posted, which is already in the general ledger and read-only. Frihet has no approval workflow for journal entries: Post to ledger books the entry directly. If a posted entry is wrong, record a correcting entry.
Quick start
- Go to Finance → Accounting, open the Journal Entries tab and click New Entry.
- Enter date, journal number and description. Add lines with account, Debit or Credit; contact and currency are optional.
- Click Save draft to continue later, or Post to ledger once the entry balances.
The account on each line must exist in your chart of accounts. If the date falls in a closed fiscal year, Frihet rejects the entry (see Fiscal period lock).
